The Blood of Jesus Cleanseth Us – Phenolphthalein Flowers

What you need:

Preparation:

Pour the Phenolphthalein Indicator into a bowl or then dip 2 of the 4 flowers into it.  Make sure all areas of the petals are covered and then take them out to dry. Once dry, it will look like nothing has happened but the flowers are now ready.  When you spray them with the Windex, the ammonia in it will turn the indicator pink making the flowers change color. After awhile they will dry out and go back to white.

Note:

This object lesson was brought to my attention by my friend Andrew Mays from Augusta, GA.  Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together and for sharing it!

Lesson:

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Our Bishop preached a message about how the cleansing in that verse is not a one time cleansing, but if we strive to live for God and do what is right, that the blood of Jesus will help us to be clean as we make our way through life.  This doesn’t mean that you can sin and not suffer consequences but rather that you don’t have to be in constant fear of the little things in life causing you to not make it heaven. If you make a mistake like getting angry at someone or at a situation and you are SO MAD and then you catch yourself, that is not going to be in danger of judgement. Because the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us.

And this is why we need to stay FULL of the Holy Ghost!  We need to go to church every time the doors are open, we need to stay prayed up, we need to worship God, we need to read our bible and do all the things we know we should be doing as Christians, so the blood of Jesus can continue to work in our lives.

HOLD UP THE UNTREATED FLOWERS

What color are these flowers?  (WHITE)

HOLD UP THE WINDEX

And what color is this liquid? (BLUE)

If I put the blue liquid on the white flowers, what color would you expect the flowers to be when I am done?  Blue probably? That makes sense to me… let’s check it out. Let’s put the blue liquid on the white flowers and see what happens.

SPRAY THE WINDEX ON THE FLOWER AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN

That was kind of disappointing… NOTHING HAPPENED!  The white flowers didn’t turn blue, in fact, if anything the white flowers turned WET.  Hmmm….

I have a feeling that those flowers haven’t been prepared properly.  They probably haven’t been going to church, repented of all their sins, been baptized in Jesus name or been filled with the Holy Ghost like it talks about in Acts 2:38.

HOLD UP ONE OF THE TREATED FLOWERS

But this one here!  I can just tell that this one has been working on their prayer life.  They have been really doing their best to live for God, go to church and do what is right.  I have a feeling that this one will respond a little differently.

Again, what color is the flower? (WHITE)

What color is the liquid? (BLUE)

What do you think will happen if I spray the blue liquid on the white flower?  Might it turn blue? Or will it just turn wet like the other one?

Let’s try it.

SPRAY THE WINDEX ON THE FLOWER AND YOU WILL SEE THE WHITE FLOWER TURN PURPLE

WHAT?!! Look at that!  What is going on? Hold everything!  Blue liquid plus white flower equals PINK FLOWER?  How is that possible?

That is really NEAT!  But how is it possible?

Wait a second… when you are prepared correctly and the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to your life it makes an incredible difference and it will help you stay pure and clean when the day to day things of life come against you.

TRY TO SPRAY THE UNTREATED FLOWER AGAIN

But again, this one just wasn’t quite ready.  I don’t know about you but I want to respond to Jesus correctly!  I want to live my life the way Jesus wants me to.

IF YOU WAIT LONG ENOUGH THE FLOWERS WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE BACK TO WHITE

If we don’t stay prayed up and living for God we will start to get dry and we don’t want that!  Get back to the altar and get full of the Holy Ghost all over again!
