Torn and Restored Life

What you need:

  • 2 napkins
  • Practice

Lesson:

Have you ever felt like your life is coming apart at the seams?  Now I know many of you are too young to feel this way, but if you are human and most of us are, you will find that at some time in your life, that things are coming apart.

Sometimes this happens due to things we have no control over.  Bad things just sometimes happen and they may not be your fault!  That’s just life.

TEAR THE NAPKIN IN HALF

But sometimes we make decisions that aren’t the best and they can have repercussions that mess us up.

TEAR THE NAPKIN AGAIN

Maybe you hang out with the wrong people and they influence you to do silly things.

TEAR THE NAPKIN AGAIN

Maybe you can’t control your tongue and your words hurt those around you and make them not want to be around you anymore

TEAR THE NAPKIN AGAIN

Maybe you disobey your parents or teachers

TEAR THE NAPKIN AGAIN

Maybe you begin to cheat on your tests or maybe you begin to tell lies to get out the trouble you have caused

TEAR THE NAPKIN AGAIN

WHATEVER happened, your life is seemingly destroyed.  And you may feel like there is no hope… that you could never make something of yourself now.  That God could NEVER USE ME!

But that just simply isn’t the case… God DOES want to use you and if you put your life, all the broken pieces together into God’s hands, HE CAN RESTORE YOU AGAIN

DO THE TRICK

Isn’t God good?  He wants to make us whole again.  Not matter what you have done, God loves you and wants to make something out of your life.  You can be restored and whole again.

How it works:

The idea is simple, you rip a napkin into pieces and then the napkin magically joins back together.

You make it work by hidden an intact balled up napkin in your hand and palming it so it cannot be seen by the audience.  After you rip the 2nd napkin, you ball it up tightly and clutch it in your hand that is already holding the good napkin.  Reach into your hand and pull out the good one instead of the bad one.

On your first few attempts, you are likely to feel self-conscious of the secret ball of paper’s visibility in your hand. Just remember that your audience has not aware of what exactly what you are doing and there is no need to stress too much.

To ease the stress, a good method is to rehearse the torn and restored napkin magic trick in front of a mirror. Alternate between doing it with a piece of paper hidden and then try it without the hidden paper.
