Holiness – Oil & Water

Needed:

  • Clear glass jar or vase
  • Food coloring (contrasting color to the oil)
  • Cup of oil (approximately 1 cup)
  • Cup of water – you will the food coloring to this (same quantity as you use of oil)
  • Stirring rod

Lesson:

God will always separate Himself from sin. You simply cannot mix the two together.  This applies whether you are referring to an individual or an entire church.

Hold up the empty vase

The first step to being saved is to repent and clean your heart of all of the sins that you have committed and then and only then God can come and live inside of you. God simply will not come into a heart that is already full of sin.

To illustrate this you can have the vase already full of something that you can pour out such as rocks or marbles or something that won’t have debris left behind.

Once you are saved you need to maintain your purity and holiness because if you ever try to introduce sin into a life that is full of the Holy Ghost, God will have to step aside.

Some churches want to have the glory of God but they also want to have entertainment in the things of this world. You simply have to choose one or the other.

What is in this cup represents God and His holiness.

Hold up the cup of oil.

holiness1What is in this cup represents send in the things of this world.

Hold up the cup of colored water.  Pour each one into the glass jar or vase and begin stirring them together.

You see, it looks like it’s working. It looks like I’m able to truly have both holiness and send at the same time but unfortunately once things die down…

holiness2Stop stirring and let the jar or vase sit still. You will see the oil begin separating immediately and after 10 minutes or so the separation is absolutely complete and you can see no intermingling of the 2 fluids at all.

You’ll see that God slowly starts to separate himself out. The longer you wait the more clearly the separation becomes.
